Lights, camera, dissatisfaction!

Community Board 1 will step into a brave new world of civic engagement on Wednesday when it livestreams its general meeting on Youtube for the first time.

The voluntary panel of Williamsburgers and Greenpointers is one of several around the city that public television station Thirteen will beam out online this year, paid for by taxpayers at the behest of local Council members — in this case, Councilman Steve Levin (D–Williamsburg)

The news will likely be a relief for busy locals who don’t want to miss a second of the action at the Swinging Sixties Senior Center — Community Board 1 meetings are known for running late, so much so that they’ve been known to lose quorums as weary members go home.

But the real question on many people’s mind is what this means for local man Mike Cherepko, who infamously live-tweets the meetings with snarky comments.

Cherepko says he just hopes the stream encourages others who hate the meetings as much as he does to join in the tweeting. He won’t be able to attend this week’s gathering in person, but admitted he might still use the new YouTube channel to catch up on everything later.

“That sounds like miserable way to spend my life, so I probably will,” Cherepko said.

Watch Community Board 1’s meeting here at 6 pm on Feb. 15.
