Cops are investigating after they lifted a dead man’s corpse from the toxic Gowanus Canal early Tuesday morning.

Authorities discovered the victim who they have yet to identify floating in the channel near Nevins Street around 7 am, before the Police Department’s Harbor Unit transported the “badly decomposed” body with duct tape covering its mouth to Pier 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where paramedics pronounced the man dead.

Officers could not immediately confirm how long the man was submerged in the canal, or what other trauma he may have suffered.

The city’s medical examiner will determine the cause of death, according to police.
