Call it the soundtrack to summer.

Musicians from around the world will perform free concerts in Coney Island this summer as part of the second annual SummerStage lineup at the Ford Amphitheater on the Riegelmann Boardwalk. The free shows will continue the neighborhood’s longstanding tradition of offering accessible summer fun to everyone, according to Councilman Mark Tregyer (D–Coney Island).

“SummerStage gives local residents access to fun, free recreational activities that celebrate the music, culture and heritage that makes our community, our borough, and our city so unique,” Treyger said. “Coney Island is, has, and always will be the place to be for culture and fun that is accessible to all. SummerStage 2018 is sure to be a hit!”

The lineup — sponsored by the City Parks Foundation — kicked off on June 20 with Bedford-Stuyvesant native Big Daddy Kane performing a 30th anniversary tribute to his debut album, “Long Live the Kane.”

On July 8, Jamaican artists — including Barrington Levy, Third World, and Kabaka Pyramid — will bring their reggae and dancehall tunes to the neighborhood, and five days later, Puerto Rican performers Tito Rojas and Andy Montañez will bring the sounds of their island on July 13.

On July 29, the Lox, Young M.A, and DJ Funk Flex will take their signature hip hop and rap hits to the stage, and on Aug. 12, a trio of female performers — rapper Dej Loaf, urban jazz songstress iamddb, and electric pop singer Quiñ — will close out the concert series.

Borough President Adams said Brooklynites — and even New Yorkers from other distant boroughs — should make the trek to Coney to enjoy the free beachside fun this summer.

“SummerStage in Coney Island is raising the bar for one of our favorite traditions in America’s Playground — free seaside entertainment!” Adams said. “We invite people from Brooklyn and beyond to enjoy these great performances in this premier destination for summer recreation.”
