Hail to the Deputy Chief!
Brooklynites gathered to toast Police Department Deputy Chief Charles Scholl of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South at a Dec. 7 luncheon that a borough do-good group organized in the top cop’s honor.
Leaders of the Be Proud Foundation paid tribute to Deputy Chief Scholl’s decades of service, and his continued support of their organization, according to the group’s executive director, Sheepshead Bay resident Raisa Chernina.
“All these years, he’s been with us,” Chernina said. “He’s a mensch.”
Police Department brass — including 61st Precinct Commanding Officer Captain James King, 61st Precinct Community Council President Yves Etienne, 63rd Precinct Commanding Officer Captain Tito Romero, Sergeant Zagham Abbas — joined local pols and civic leaders for the bash at Skazka restaurant in Sheepshead Bay, where Chernina and her group presented the chief with a plaque thanking him for his important work keeping the city safe.
Chernina founded the Be Proud Foundation 15 years ago, she said, and has staged its annual Police Appreciation Luncheon for the past 13 years.
