Interior designers will tell you that a rug grounds a room, so when designing a space, pick the rug first and then work from there.

Other designers will advise switching out your rugs seasonally for a mini room makeover.

With either approach, starting February 14 and running through February 18 in Industry City at ABC Carpet & Home, the job just got easier — and much cheaper.

That’s because ABC Carpet & Home is transforming its 25,000-square-foot store into an outlet, with 70 percent of its selling space dedicated to rugs and carpets.

Thousands of rugs are already as much as 60 percent off original prices, including contemporary, classic wool, flat weave, vintage and patchwork rugs.

The Presidents’ Day weekend sale takes an additional 15 percent off the sale price of rugs and carpets, and also furniture, sectionals and sofa beds, dining tables and side chairs, nickel-plated brass pendants, bedding and more. Discount is taken from the lowest ticketed price.

So, if in the interest of civil apartment living, you’re looking to reduce the noise of walking so your neighbors downstairs can have a semblance of peace — carpet can reduce the sound of walking by 25 to 34 decibels — you’ve come to the right place (try some cut-pile carpeting, with its fuzzy top).

Or if you’re looking for a cleverly designed sofa bed with an adjustable backrest that transforms into three positions and fits into small spaces, then the Crashpad Daybed is for you. There are also dynamic accent chairs, ornate lampshades and much more.

ABC Carpet & Home is located at 3906 2nd Avenue in Industry City in Sunset Park in Brooklyn. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
