Taking the oath…

Newly elected State Senator Daniel Squadron was officially sworn in during a special ceremony on the Senate floor in Albany Monday. Squadron took over the spot from Martin Connor after besting the 30 year incumbent in a hotly contested Democratic primary for the 25th State Senate District, which includes Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg and downtown Manhattan. Upon taking the oath, Squadron was immediately made chair of the State Senate Cities Committee, which is responsible for legislation pertaining to major metropolitan areas throughout New York state.
