Monday is Labor Day, and that means Brooklyn is alive with fun.
The annual West Indian Day carnival will turn Eastern Parkway into a blocks-long tribute to island pride, with the march beginning at 11 am at Buffalo Avenue and making its way to Grand Army Plaza.
Along the way, enjoy Caribbean delicacies, music and those amazing costumes.
And if a boisterous parade isn’t your idea of fun, head to one of Brooklyn’s public pools for the last day of swimming on Monday. The pools are open from 11 am to 7 pm, with an hour break between 3 and 4 pm. Call 311 for locations or visit the Parks Department Web site.

And our friends at Habana Outpost, that eco-eatery on Fulton Street in Fort Greene, are having a “Back to School” bash with the Brooklyn Public Library. There’ll be a DJ, the obligatory face-painting, green crafts, readings and a kiddie dance party (kids of a slightly higher age can enjoy frozen drinks and Cuban snacks).
