Call them the boo-lice!
Cops transformed a Bushwick police headquarters into a demonic domicile buzzing with ghouls, monsters, and ghosts, giving local youngsters who stopped by the scare of their lives on Halloween night.
But the kids spooked during their terrifying trip through the Wilson Avenue Patrol Bureau Brooklyn North still walked out with smiles on their faces, a co-sponsor of the event said.
“It was terrific,” said Gina Argento, the owner of film- and television-production company Broadway Stages, which has facilities in Bushwick. “The kids had a great time, and we had a great time being a part of it. It’s always nice to give back to the community.”
The firm coughed up some cash to help transform the station into a satanic sanctuary, along with donating some props to use as decor, according to Argento, a local do-gooder who also lent her supportive hand to the owner of a Greenpoint delicatessen fighting to stay in her storefront.
The spooky spectacle drew droves of pint-sized thrill-seekers, according to a colleague of Argento’s, who said the queue to enter grew to frightening proportions.
“The line just to get into the haunted house was around the block,” said Monica Holowacz.
Broadway Stages leaders joined the staff of CBS television series “Bull,” which films at one of the company’s Bushwick facilities, in helping to put the haunted house together — but the real stars of the eerie evening were the cops who traded in their handcuffs and badges for chainsaws and knives to frighten those with stomachs strong enough to go inside, Holowacz said.
“It was spooky,” she said.
