President Obama’s well-intended, ambitious goal is to provide “quality, affordable health care to all Americans.” Note that word – Americans.
In his recent press conference he stated, “This is not just about the 47 million Americans who have no health insurance.”
There’s that word Americans again. The most recent published Census Bureau report “Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States, 2007” was compiled, computed and released in 2008.The very next report on the matter is due out any day. In the meantime, until it is issued, you, I and the President have to rely on the statistics released last year. Here are just a few that I found very interesting.
The report disclosed that almost 46 million people in the United States did not have health insurance in 2007.Almost 10 million of the 46 were foreign born non-citizens who were in the country in 2007. They are not Americans so now we’re talking about 36 million Americans without health insurance. Of those there were more than nine million people earning more than $75,000 who chose not to participate in a medical plan. We are now down to 27 million people who do not have medical coverage presumably for financial reasons.
The most current information also tells us that in 2007 the number of people with health insurance rose by more than three million. These numbers come from the United States Census Bureau and until they are changed someone might want to adjust the wording on the teleprompter. Until the repair is made we have to rely on Robert Gibbs telling us what my president meant to say. Doesn’t the Pillsbury Doughboy with glasses realize that the Washington press corps is having a good laugh at his expense?

By now everybody knows that if the health care plan being proposed is patterned after the plan in Canada or the U.K. the group that will be hurt the most will be America’s senior citizens. OK, My fellow golden-agers. Now, before it is too late, send your Senators and Congressmen the following email:
Dear Senator Schumer, I want to live long enough to vote for you again. Please do NOT vote for Obamacare. Thank you.

It makes no difference if you are a Harvard professor or a New York City sanitation worker. It makes no difference if you are black, white, brown or polka-dot. When a law enforcement officer shows up to protect you or your property, it is best to learn how to say “Yes sir,” “No sir,” and “Thank you sir.”

In a recent column, after I listed a few of the groups that President Obama has annoyed, antagonized and angered, I asked, “Who do you think he will provoke next?”
It didn’t take long to get the answer. With his poor choice of words describing the Cambridge police, there are law enforcement officers all over America that are more than just a little bit disappointed in him. OK, gang. Let’s do it again. I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net asking – Who do you think President Obama will alienate next?
