Veterans visit Our Lady of Perpetual Help

4th grader Diamond Livingston danced to "It's A Wonderful World," at Our Lady of Perpetual Help's Veterans Day assembly

On Veteran’s Day members of The Catholic War Veterans Post #5 visited Our Lady of Perpetual Help and gave out $500 in prizes to the winners of its third annual Veteran’s Day Essay Contest. The theme of this year’s contest“My American Hero,” had students writingessays about service people that have had an impact on their lives.

The awards were presented during a Veteran’s Day assembly at the school, 5902 6th Avenue, by Stanley Lewis from the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office.

This year’s top prize went to Anastasia Domenech who wrote an essay about her father, who served in Iraq. Senator Marty Golden also addressed the students.
