Whenever I’m bored, which is rarely, or I can’t sleep, which is often, I pass the time by reading the major newspapers of different American cites on the Internet. On the night after the DC sniper, John Muhammad, was executed, I read the story and the editorials of seven or eight different journals. Most of the papers recalled the fears of the residents of the area. Some spoke about how the murderer’s car was parked at a truck stop, who spotted it and how he was caught. A few told us about the loved ones that were left behind after the killings and of the hurt that never healed. One newspaper spoke about the reopening of wounds that were healed by the passing of time.Another two newspapers dwelled on the anti capital punishment demonstration outside of the Greensville Correctional Center where the 48 year old SOB was finally put to death. We know where those newspapers were coming from.There were a few newspapers that deeply described who the witnesses were and why they were there. Different newspapers attacked the story in different ways but there was one particular detail that was there in all of them. It seems that it was necessary for the writers of every article to tell us what the killer ate for his last meal. Why is it necessary for me to know his final menu? Why am I supposed to give a damn about what he ate? It’s only my opinion but I would be just as happy if he wasn’t fed at all.

A recent Rasmussen poll tells us that if President Obama was up for re-election right now, 45% would vote for him again. 49% say that it is unlikely that they would vote for him again. The Independents are moving to the right.
There are also a couple of job approval polls that have him now down below 50%.
“Hey Eric. My numbers continue to fall. What do you suggest?”
“You have to keep blaming Bush, Mr. President.”
“I can’t. Americans are wise to that.”
“OK. We’ll hold that trial in New York. This way the media’s attention will be focused back to Bush and waterboarding and illegal torture and the AMERICANS will blame Bush instead of you.”
“Great thinking. Thank you. That’s why you get the big bucks.”

I watched Chris Matthews again last night. Motormouth asked his guest a question. He answered it himself. Then he asked another question. Again he answered it himself. One of the great wonders of this world is how he gets celebrity guests to appear on his show when all they seem to do is smile, get in two or three words and nod their heads.
After the horrible situation that took place at Fort Hood, Matthews asked, “Is it a crime to call al-Qaeda?”
It probably is if you’re a major in the U.S. Army.
