Joseph had a bit part, but he performed it like a pro.
Third grader Jack London, 8, did the publicity-shy biblical character proud when he took to a homespun barn with his classmates and pals to stage a Nativity play as part of a winter wonderland at St. Anselm’s Church on Fourth Avenue off 83rd Street.
“I only had a few lines, but it felt good,” boasted the budding actor, who shared the spotlight with Brendan Lavin, Grace and Caroline Adams, Mary and Emily Johnson, Elisa Lennon and Christopher Joseph Anello to re-enact the story of Christ’s birth.
A Christmas boutique with arts, crafts and seasonal movies for the kids, plus storytelling by Mrs. Claus, drew mom, dad and the kids to the Bay Ridge school, where Santa — played by Paul Muccigrosso — gave visitors a cheery greeting from his red sleigh parked in the grotto on a carpet of fake snow.
The festive frolic was brought back after a 19-year hiatus, said Home School Board member Jeanine Condon, who had such cherished memories of it herself as a former St. Anselm’s student that she lobbied for its return.
“It was pretty amazing, we had 2,010 people attend our 2010 winter wonderland,” she added.
