Worst Saturday ever — Clones are swept by the Yankees

Cyclones 0
Yankees 5 (Game 1)

Saturday, Aug. 1, at Staten Island

Starter James Fuller was not his usual effective self, giving up three runs in the second on four consecutive doubles.

He also gave up another run in the fifth on a throwing error by his catcher, and another run in the sixth on a solo homer.

Fuller went all the way in the loss, his fourth against three wins. The Cyclones managed all of four hits in support of him.

The nightcap was no better, with the Yankees getting on the board first, with a solo shot.

But the Cyclones got that run back in the second, when Luis Rivera led off with a single and stole second. He then scored on consecutive groundouts.

But in the Staten Island fourth, Justin Milo hit a two-run dinger and that was all she wrote.

Starter Brandon Moore struck out nine in just five innings, but those homers killed him.

The twin losses cut the Cyclones’ first-place lead over the second-place Staten Island Yankees to just three games.
