This weekend, Brooklyn Heights will look a little bit like Beirut — in a good way.
With kebabs and falafel aplenty, a Lebanese food festival will be crowding onto Remsen Street on Saturday for a fun-filled day of Levantine larder. The feast is part of fundraising efforts to pay for much-needed repairs to Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Cathedral, on the corner of Remsen and Henry streets.
“There will be all kinds of Lebanese food, pastries, a live band, and a traditional dance troupe,” said Father James Root, whose church is the seat of the country’s 100,000-strong Maronite Christian community.
It’s going to be a great time, but whatever you do, don’t say it’s “Druze-licious.”
Lebanese Food Festival at Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral [109 Remsen St. between Henry and Clinton streets in Brooklyn Heights, (718) 624-7228]. May 29 and 30, noon-10 pm; May 31, noon-6 pm. Entry is free, but food prices vary.
