why don't you talk about how the delay is being caused by the control battle? It was in the Post, which owns the Paper.

You took out the "oh marty" quote from Elizabeth Mitchell.

Once again, the Brooklyn "Paper" seems entirely intent on slamming Brooklyn Bridge Park. While it complains bitterly at every opportunity it spends absolutely no time collecting facts.

Andy Campbell asserts, "Pier 1 would be the first segment of a long-proposed 1.7-mile swath of greenspace and condos along the Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO waterfront." This flies in the face of the fact that the first phase, the huge swath between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge opened almost as soon as the master plan was completed and has the distinction of being the only part that did not require extensive study of it's underpinnings, namely the pilings that hold up the rest of the park space.

The Brooklyn Paper's instigation of much of what Mr Campbell reported on as "controversy" no doubt stems from his employer's desire to defeat the park entirely. It seems he fears that too many "undesirables" will walk down Jarolemon Street and past his house to get to the park. Boo-hoo.

It's a shame that the "Paper" has spend so much effort to complain, but has exerted no effort at all to promote sensible ways to link the park at the end of Montague for instance, or extending the number 2 subway platform at Clark Street to create a subway station in the park itself.

Cambell also said, "The remainder of the Brooklyn Bridge Park project, comprising four other piers and costing around $350 million total, has been put off the table until more funding can be lined up." I may be wrong, but it isn't the funding to build it that is at issue, it is whether the funds to maintain it are yet available. The unique "fees in leu of taxes" planned for the small footprint condos on the extreme ends of the park do not currently make economic sense to build yet. No condos, no fees to maintain. The stuff they are building are not atop pilings. The thousands of pilings are THE most expensive maintenance items on the proposed annual budget for the park.

Sensible.

I dare you to write an article that finds ways to help ensure the park stays on track instead of doing all you can to spread distortions, fear, and whining.

Seriously, like Bob said, when do you guys ever give credit? Have you seen how complicated this park is? Have you noticed that what they said would be done by the end of the year is virtually done?
And it is news to me that Ruppert Murdock owns this paper. Suddenly, all the FOX style misinformation makes a ton of sense...
