Two thugs attacked a man on a Manhattan-bound C train on Nov. 12 — sending the straphanger to the hospital for staples and stitches.
The 28-year-old victim told cops that the train was near the Clinton-Washington station at 11:45 pm when one of the goons approached him and yelled, “I’m gonna cut this n—!”
The brute slashed his head, nose and hands with a box-cutter and the other punched him in the face.
Cops say that the derelict duo — both described as 25-years-old and about 6-foot-1 — may have been members of the Crips.
The victim was transported to Brooklyn Hospital.
Apple pry
Three thieves plucked a woman’s iPhone in the Clinton-Washington G train station on Nov. 7.
The victim told police that she was on the subway platform at 4 pm when one of the strangers held her in a bear hug and another rustled through her pockets. They yanked her mobile and fled into a getaway car.
Cops arrested 18- and 33-year-old suspects, but didn’t retrieve the Jobsian device.
Brutal stabbing
A band of marauders stabbed a man in the neck and ribs on Myrtle Avenue on Nov. 7 when he tried to retrieve a stolen bicycle.
The victim told police that he was near Washington Avenue at 6:15 pm when the thugs stabbed him multiple times on his upper body — sending him to Brooklyn Hospital for stitches.
Jumped the gun
A trio of young bandits attacked two teens on S. Oxford Street on Nov. 7 — simulating a pistol and fleeing with a cellphone.
The victims told police that they were near Hanson Place at 6:15 pm when the devious crew surrounded them. One of them asked, “What are you doing?” and another barked, “I have a gun. Give me what you got!”
They fled with a Samsung phone. Police are seeking 17- and 18-year-old suspects.
Bike pain
A thief gershed a $1,500 bike from outside the Atlantic Terminal Mall on Nov. 8.
The 34-year-old victim told cops that he parked on Flatbush Avenue at 1:50 pm. When he returned a half hour later, his gray mountain bike was gone.
Carry-off
A thief boosted a Toyota SUV from DeKalb Avenue overnight on Nov. 9.
The 47-year-old victim told police that she parked near S. Oxford Street at 11:50 pm. When she returned the next morning, her $50,000 wheels were gone.
Storage break
Some jerk snatched fur coats and PlayStation 3 from a storage unit on Flatbush Avenue on Nov. 11.
The 44-year-old victim left her stuff at the facility near Rockwell Place at 2 pm. When she returned the next morning, her $1,200 TV set, clothes, and 15-inch car tire were gone.
Laptop swipe
Some goon lifted a laptop and camera from a Vanderbilt Avenue contractor on Nov. 4.
An employee told police that he left the building near Fulton Street for the weekend at 5 pm. When he returned days later, the front door was busted open and a $1,500 Dell computer was gone.
Dirty secret
A shoplifter in a fur-trim coat stole 240 pairs of underwear from the Victoria’s Secret at the crime-riddled Atlantic Terminal Mall on Nov. 12.
An employee told cops that the thief entered the shop at 10:11 am, yanked $2,000 worth of panties from the shelf and fled.

Sprucing up catalogs of selections of the crime data with cheap titillations is hardly a demonstration of knowing crime better than the readers. Remembering that our data is incomplete, and that even if we had complete data on all 8 precincts that it would still be discrepant given that it wrongfully excludes the other 2/3 of police precincts in Brooklyn in total, we can nevertheless deny Brooklyn Paper's claims that "Ft. Greene has more crime than anywhere else." That isn't true, according to the NYPD stats in the above linked six pdfs corresponding to the six precincts, FOR THE LAST WEEK, THE LAST MONTH, OR EVEN THE LAST YEAR TO DATE. The dubious distinction in all those time periods is held by the 90th Precinct--which is sadly my precinct. The precinct with the largest increase in violent crime for the past week was the 76th Precinct, for the past 28 days was the 94th Precinct, and for the past year was the 84th Precinct.
Thank God I didn't take Brooklyn Paper at its word that somehow because someone there gets a paycheck to write about crime that somehow they know better than anyone else.

Greene right now is not that the situation is "bad," but that the situation has gotten so much worse this year than previous periods [while Ft. Greene nevertheless trails other precincts in this regard also, so again, Ft. Greene is unfairly targeted--have you not noticed that Ft. I mean, what are we all doing here then? Excreting, or thinking? I'm interested in the fullest freedoms for the latter while I'm disturbed by the self-indulgence of the former. Maybe a solution would be to adopt your sister publication NY Post's use of comment threads, which, ironically, is so much more progressive than its overall media narrative. In such a thread, commenters must log on with their Facebook, Yahoo, or Google identities. Anonymity remains a choice, but more and more users are inclined to speak their minds through their "real faces" [ahem.] Because, I must tell you, I understand anonymity is necessary for those who are justifiably insecure by threat physical or otherwise, but it has become a shield for such cowardice and evil. How about this folks? I grew up in this neighborhood in 1982 while witnessing events from robberies and shootingss either from the window or at close range. I was here before everyone else arrived with Sonic Youth shirts and Wyatt Earp moustaches so go figure. Is it as bad? No. But whether or not you believe in what you read anywhere it is critical that you are aware of your surroundings at all times. I normally find that crimes committed here are usually from people from other parts of town meaning either boroughs or heading eastward. Dont start killing each other believing that thepooorer on the other end of the park are out to get revenge, coming from someone who is in connection with everyone in the area. If we have not then soon we will, but for now stay aware at all times and do your best to travel paired up without being inebriated. These young kids whom I guarantee are coming from the projects near Classon and Myrtle-Willoughby on the G line are responsible, sometimes seeing them acting outrageous.

Easy solution! Hard labor Upstate for robbery. Yes, unfortunately it's come to that. Any untalented lameass can hold and point a gun. But can these lazy-asses who think they don't have to live with the rest of us handle breaking up rocks all day for a couple of years? I don't think so. I think they'd come back thinking twice about going back up. Or better yet, they'd move out of NY. This is not a poor third world village, it's NY. No one is starving (and very few without a cellphone). People are just greedy, spoiled rotten, bored and angry, which is a bad combination and the sign of a quickly deteriorating society.

There was a recent hysteria about "whipping" along North 7th and North 8th Street in Williamsburg after the musical outfit Widespread Panic played a show hosted by the Open Space Alliance. The issue is germane to the Brooklyn Paper because while it features incendiary and inflammatory crime blotter headlines, I don't recall its coverage of this incident. The problem was not the actual drug activity, it was the racial connotations and implications of police enforcement in the area--and when you think about the media focus of Brooklyn Paper and what happened after this show, the problem is also the racial connotation and implication of media coverage in the area. There is a pernicious and widespread exaggeration of the supposed or potential criminal activity of the Puerto Ricans and African-Americans in Brooklyn even when nothing in their outward activity suggests drugs [i.e. "stop-and-frisk"], but widespread and COMPLETELY OUT IN THE OPEN drug use by the agents of gentrification, such as the many hundreds of the juvenescent who were whipping out in the streets, is IGNORED IN ITS ENTIRETY.

The falsification that is going on with the NYPD and "the appearance of crime" rather than "actual crime" is four-fold: on the lowest level, officers are held to quotas and are falsifying arrests. On the next level, the NYPD itself is using a computer statistical analysis system to track crime whose integrity and validity has been called into serious question by NYPD officials and the courts themselves. On the third level, the Mayor's office manipulates the lower two levels and counts on the fourth level to falsify in gullible social minds [as opposed to falsifying statistics] how crime is really commissioned, and on the fourth level, the deepest level of all, we, as members of New York society, are fooling ourselves about what "crime" really is, and who is actually commissioning it.

Mind you, the NYPD, during the course of its illustrious history, has often neglected to report ARSON, which is the single greatest factor behind the destruction of Williamsburg's landscape post-WWII. Why? Well, my suspicion is because most ARSON in this period, in fact, most ARSON in any period, is typically ARSON-FOR-PROFIT, that is, by landlords. The depiction of "blight" was so powerfully used against the Puerto Rican and Hispanic and African-American community in Williamsburg even though tremendous disparities existed between the race, ethnic and economic classes of the tenants and the landlords. That is, white landlords burned Williamsburg to the ground, but images and rhetoric have always blamed the residents.
