Keen eyes during an early-morning patrol earned two cops from the 78th Precinct top honors last week.

At 12:30 a.m. on April 27, Clinton Philbert and Angel Caban, were doing their routine tour when they received a call of ‘shots fired’ over their police radio.

They quickly responded to the scene, which was in a neighboring precinct, at Bond and Baltic Streets, according to Deputy Inspector John Argenziano, the commanding officer of the precinct.

The duo continued to canvass the area, crossing the invisible border from the 76th Precinct back to the 78, which covers Park Slope and Windsor Terrace.

The pair spotted a male matching the description of the suspect, said to be wearing a white jacket with an orange stripe.

The cops approached, and the suspect “tosses something to his side,” Argenziano said.

That certain something turned out to be a 9-mm handgun, he noted.

The suspect was arrested without incident, and at the April 29 meeting of the 78th Precinct Community Council, Philbert and Caban were named “Cops of the Month.”

For their effort, they received sincere applause and personalized plaques.
