78th Precinct salutes outstanding trio of cops

Keen instinct and fleet feet earned a trio of cops from the 78th Precinct top honors last week from the 78th Precinct Community Council.

On May 31, Sgt. Jose Baez and Officers Mohamady Patwekar and Brian Flynn were on routine midnight patrol in Prospect Park when they noticed two males who did not belong in the park, as it was well past closing, according to Deputy Inspector John Argenziano, the commanding officer of the 78th Precinct.

The cops approached the men, who promptly fled, running out of the park and towards eastern Parkway. Undeterred, the cops gave chase, and eventually caught up with the men, recovering a .380−caliber handgun in the process. One of the suspects, it turns out, had numerous prior arrests, the top cop said.

“They took too bad guys off the street using minimal force,” Argenziano said.
