Restaurant robbery
Someone stole thousands of dollars in cash and tech from a Fulton Street restaurant on April 3.
According to police, when the victim arrived at Brooklyn Thai-Ger that day, the front door was ajar and the cash register on the floor. She quickly discovered that the thief had stolen thousands of dollars in cash from the register and from an unlocked drawer in the basement, along with a laptop. When police arrived, they found the restaurant’s lockbox had been broken, and the key stolen.
Security camera footage from a neighboring building showed the thief arriving outside the store around 2:30 a.m. on a white e-bike, breaking the lockbox, entering the business, and making their escape. All in all, they got away with $5,600 in cash and a laptop worth several hundred dollars.
Stroller stolen from parked car
A fast-moving thief nabbed a high-end stroller and other items from a parked car on March 30.
The victim told police she parked her vehicle near the intersection of Carlton and Atlantic avenues at about 8:20 p.m. When she returned just over an hour later, she found that someone had drilled into the car door, broken in, and stolen her Doona stroller, a car seat, and her debit and library cards, all in all worth about $700.
Cops were searching for surveillance camera footage of the incident, but have not yet made any arrests.
The long con
A Fort Green woman discovered that someone had slowly been stealing valuables from her home on April 1.
Cops said the victim first noticed that a watch had gone missing from her home in late January. Over time, an envelope of cash, and designer handbag disappeared, too. In February, the unknown thief started attempting to make purchases on the victim’s credit cards, which had not been stolen.
The victim canceled the cards and contacted the police. She believed her nanny may have been responsible for the thefts, police said, but an investigation is ongoing.
Tow pound thief arrested
Police arrested a teen who allegedly stole a car from a Navy Street tow pound on April 1.
Camera footage showed a thief climbing into the car just after 6 p.m., police said, and driving out of the tow lot without permission. The car had been locked, and there was no sign of a break-on, according to police. Officers searched the area but were unsuccessful — until the following day, when they arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of taking the car and recovered the vehicle.
