Subway stealer
A Fort Greene straphanger was robbed of her wallet by a pickpocket on Feb. 28.
The 43-year-old woman was disembarking a southbound C train at the Lafayette Avenue subway station when an unidentified woman bumped into her. She told cops that it was not until she was at home and saw an unauthorized charge on her credit card that she realized her wallet was missing.
Cops are still looking for the female suspect but have been aided in their investigation after the victim obtained security camera footage of the woman using her card being at Lincoln Market grocery store.
What a tool!
A Clinton Hill home currently under construction was burglarized twice by a thieves who made off with construction tools worth over $2,000
The 51 year-old owner of the Downing Street property reported to the 88th Precinct that a thief had gained entry to her home by cutting the lock off the basement hatch on March 1. The suspect, who has yet to be identified, left the property with drills, grinders and other tools with a combined value of $1,740.
On March 6, the vacant property was burglarized again by a suspect who entered through an unlocked window. Cops did not say whether they believe the same suspect struck twice. But the second burglar made off with $1,150 worth of tools before fleeing.
School bullies
A 15-year-old girl was assaulted and robbed of her cellphone by a group of teenagers in Fort Greene on Mar. 8.
The victim said she was walking from her nearby school on Fort Greene Place to get lunch at 2 p.m. when she was approached by a group of five teens, two boys and three girls.
Two of the girls told the victim to hand over her belongings before punching and kicking her about her body. One of the girls then took the victim’s iPhone 13 and feld towards Fulton Street.
Cops have yet to find the group of teens who sent the 15-year-old girl to Brooklyn Hospital with minor injuries.
Bike lock beating
A bicyclist struck a man over the head with a bike lock after the pair got into an altercation in Clinton Hill on Mar. 8.
According to the 40-year–old victim, he was driving eastbound on Lafayette Avenue when he got into a verbal dispute with a bicyclist on the road – the reason behind the initial altercation was not immediately clear.
The driver told cops that he exited his vehicle to check it for damage after the bicyclist kicked it. While checking the car for damage, he said the bicyclist dealt him a blow to the back of the head using a metal bike lock.
Cops said they are checking nearby cameras to identify the suspect who rode off eastbound on Lafayette Avenue.
Love thy neighbor
Cops arrested an alleged burglar after an eagle-eyed neighbor saw the man fleeing the Fort Greene apartment building on Mar. 3.
The victim, a 24-year-old woman, reported to police that someone had broken into her apartment just before midnight, stealing her television and several items of clothing.
Despite noticing the thief as he left her apartment, it was a nearby neighbor who was able to provide police with a description of the man after he allegedly saw the suspect leaving the Adelphi Street building with his loot worth $1,950.
Cops picked up a 36-year-old Prospect Lefferts Gardens’ man in connection with the burglary the following day.
