Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz’ office was turned into a “turkey warehouse” as he distributed 100 turkeys to local community organizations and the area’s police precincts and firehouses to help make Thanksgiving a little more cheerful for those in need.
The frozen turkeys will be given to families who would have gone without turkeys this Thanksgiving, thanks to the turkey giveaway, which has become an annual tradition for Cymbrowitz.
In addition to distributing the frozen turkeys in his office, Cymbrowitz visited senior centers in his district over the past few weeks presenting Stop and Shop gift cards for turkeys to the winners of raffles conducted at each center. This enables the seniors to purchase either a turkey or other ingredients for their Thanksgiving Dinner from Shop and Stop’s convenient and well-stocked store.
“While we live in a prosperous community, there are residents who are having difficulty making ends meet. It is important that especially at Thanksgiving, a time of family get-togethers, we think of others. I am happy that these turkeys will not only be a meal for these families, but also communicate the message that others care about them,” Cymbrowitz stated.
