A pocket full of political musings

The following are from the scraps of paper and backs of business cards that have been accumulating in my pockets:

Journalism lost another icon this week. William Safire of the New York Times passed away. He was well known for many great thoughts, but the gutsy declaration I remember him best was the one when he called Hillary “a congenital liar.” Other than Bill, who threatened to punch him in the nose, nobody disagreed with Mr. Safire.Hillary told so many lies that it would be easy to write a book filled with them. In fact, someone did.

Oh, we weren’t supposed to use the word ‘lie’ when we spoke of her falsehoods. The left wing toned it down by saying “She misspoke.”Dick Morris refers to the Clintons as ‘disingenuous.’ Yet, in spite of all her falsehoods, fabrications, untruths and lies %u2013 yes, they are lies %u2013 I’d rather have her in the White House than the socialist we have now.

On the subject of Secretary of State Clinton, Rush Limbaugh, of all people, noted something positive about President Obama. He stated that Mr. Obama was able to do, in six months, that which the right was not able to do in 16 years. He has made the Clintons irrelevant.

One last thought about Hillary: Has anyone, other than me, noticed that Mrs. Clinton has been conspicuously quiet on Obamacare? Anybody wanna’ guess why?

So the recession is over%u2026..right? Who says so? The people who are giving us this information are the same people who didn’t see the meltdown in the first place. Every time we saw the Dow drop a few bucks they shouted “NOW is the time to buy.”

So what happened? We bought and it went down even further. The forecasters were dead wrong then. Why should I believe them now?

******

In recent times, between the tube and the net, we’ve seen more political signs than ever. My favorite is the one that read “POLITICIANS ARE LIKE DIAPERS. THEY SHOULD BE CHANGED REGULARLY AND FOR THE SAME REASON!”

******

When was the last time you heard of a team playing a double-header?No %u2013 I mean a REAL double header where you can see two games for the price of one admission.

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” The Obama people forgot all about that when they had him appear on all the Sunday shows except FOX. He did a mediocre job of preaching to his choir on ABC, NBC, and CBS and caused very little, if any, change in the Obamacare polls. Perhaps if he appeared on FOX he might have been able to challenge of few minds and maybe pick up some support.I think his advisors screwed up on this one.

Who said that there is no interest in Sarah Palin? Her new book, due out in mid-November, hasn’t even gone to the printer, yet, at this very minute it is number one on Amazon.

PHOSPHORIC ACID, POTASSIUM BENZOATE, PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE, ASPARTANE, CITRIC ACID%u2026all of the above in CARBONATED WATER, CARAMEL COLORING AND NATURAL FLAVORS.

Sounds vicious, doesn’t it? Would you drink this chemical cocktail?

I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net saying, you did if you just had a Caffeine-free Diet Coke.
