Pass the juice? By the way, thanks for all you’ve done for us.
Cops in East Flatbush broke bread with representatives of the neighborhood they serve last week during a special community appreciation breakfast.
Gathering at the Tropical Paradise ballroom, 1367 Utica Avenue near Foster Avenue, top NYPD brass mingled and rubbed elbows with the merchants, community board members, elected officials, NYPD Youth Explorers and community advocates who have helped the NYPD bring crime down in the 67th Precinct.
Those on hand to give thanks were Inspector Corey Pegues, the commanding officer of the 67th Precinct and Chief Joseph Fox, the commanding officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, who said that the community was instrumental in assuring continued crime reduction.
“[The crime reductions] have a lot to do with the work of the rank and file police officers out there doing their job and serving our community each and every day,” Fox explained. “But their work couldn’t be done without the participation of all the community activists and residents who are in contact with us and tell us about any new crime conditions that are happening in their neighborhoods.”
“With everyone working together, this year has been the highest example of policing I’ve witnessed in my career,” he said. “All of Brooklyn South have a reason to be proud.”
According to recently published statistics, felony crime in the 67th Precinct has fallen 13 percent by June 21. Robberies in the command have fallen by nearly 15 percent, Inspector Pegues explained, adding that, once again, the 67th Precinct is close to leading the city in gun arrests −− just like they did last year.
