Afro Jazz Sundays: Always live

fro Jazz Sundays is Brooklyn’s newest summer event for live music from African, Caribbean and Latin traditions woven into jazz.

Every Sunday at Tamboril Restaurant, jazz improvisations are mixed with different Afro-centric music traditions. On July 20, the Buyu Ambroise Quartet will perform. Tamboril is in the Clinton Hill section of the borough, near Pratt Institute, at 527 Myrtle Avenue.

The restaurant features Nuevo Latino cuisine. Performances are 6 to 8 p.m.; there is no cover charge, table or bar minimum. For information, call 718-622-5130.

Tenor saxophonist Alix Buyu Ambroise was born in Haiti and lived in Africa as a child. Raised in Brooklyn, Ambroise’s jazz repertoire draws from Haitian music folklore.
