We’re hoping that Police Officer Lewis Ducceschi has a free wall, because this top cop is an award winner.
The results−oriented dedicated crime fighter was given a special Patrol Borough Brooklyn South “Cop of the Month” award for June by Chief Joseph Fox last week.
It was the second award that Ducceschi won in recent weeks.
During 67th Precinct Medal Day festivities at Floyd Bennett Field a week earlier, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was on hand to congratulate Ducceschi as he was named “Cop of the Year.”
Inspector Corey Pegues, the commanding officer of the 67th Precinct, said that Ducceschi deserved the award for his many arrests, as well as the glowing reports he received from his supervisors.
With Ducceschi’s assistance, the precinct managed to attain a four percent drop in crime at the end of 2008 as well as lead the city in gun arrests, Pegues noted.
Currently, cops in the 67th Precinct have reduced felony crime by just over 12 percent for the year.
Car thefts are down by 25 percent for the year while burglaries and robberies are down five percent and 12 percent, respectively, Pegues noted, adding that, once again, the command is leading the city in gun arrests.
