Area kids lend a hand to mother Earth

Mom, dad and the kids teamed up for a day of eco-friendly family fun during an Earth Day celebration at the Salt Marsh Nature Center.

The salute to Mother Nature was supervised by park rangers and featured plenty of crowd-pleasing amusements, activities and services at the wildlife refuge on East 33rd Street and Avenue U; among them, a clean-up with scouts from Troop 238, a pet adoption by the North Shore Animal League and a petting zoo.
