Kings Plaza Mall received an A-plus for helping ease students and parents into a new academic year by holding a back-to-school expo, featuring “your child’s needs/wants all under one roof,” and complete with live entertainment, vendor stalls and even a relaxing massage for weary moms and dads.
The mall, Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U in Marine Park/Mill Basin, was transformed into a giant database for visitors, who received the lowdown on a variety of available services and opportunities for their children, including after-school activities, during an afternoon of fun and information, sponsored by Macy’s and Aviator Sports and Recreation, and hosted by Community Newspaper Group (CNG), which also sponsored a coloring contest for budding Rembrandts.
Among the crowd-pleasers were martial arts demonstrations courtesy of Crosson’s Karate, 1938 Rockaway Parkway, and Shotokan Karate Center, 5212 Avenue N; a shiatsu massage demonstration from Natural Balance Massage and Wellness Center, 3013 Quentin Road; and a magic show and deejay musicc by Havin’ a Party, 9520 Avenue L.
A dance review by Dance Spot, 4119 Avenue T, and a fashion show by Michael Shane Bridal, 769 Fulton Street, capped the expo.
