Bay Ridge goes vampire-batty for baseball

Baseball and Halloween bashes are on deck in Bay Ridge this weekend. We don’t know whether to be ecstatic over the Mets’s World Series bid or petrified by all the spooky goings-on around the neighborhood, but either way, we are s—— ourselves with excitement!

On Friday night, you can meet the Mets — well, former Mets Lenny Dykstra and Wally Backman — at the Lock Yard (9221 Fifth Ave. between 92nd and 94th streets). The players will be cheering on the Amazin’s during their glorious return to New York in Game 3 of the World Series. For a scant $80, you can get one of the player’s signatures and enjoy an open bar on select beers. For $100, you get two autographs and all the booze you want. Game time is at 8 pm.

Then swing over to the Wicked Monk (9510 Third Ave. between 95th and 96th streets) for a wicked costume party and party-rockers Breaking Crazy. The bash begins right after Game 3. As far as we are concerned, the Mets have already won (superstitious sports fans can direct hate mail to mjaeger@cnglocal.com), but the folks at Wicked Monk suggest dropping by at 11 pm.

And Bay Ridge is bubbling over like a witch’s cauldron with things to do on Saturday! Start by wandering along the Halloween Walk at Owl’s Head Park (at the corner of Colonial Road and 68th Street) at 1 pm. The annual fright fest is sure to get the adrenaline flowing — just stay away from the less-spooky, kid-friendly Fairy Tale Forest section.

Then shamble over to Red, White, and Brew (8910 Fifth Ave. between 89th and 90th streets) at 4 pm to catch classic rockers Dusk to Dawn, who get Halloween bonus points for having a name so close to the Robert Rodriguez vampire flick. But get out of there in time to watch the Mets seal the deal in Game 4 (remember, hate mail to mjaeger@cnglocal.com)!

Once the Metropolitans go down in baseball history, go to either the Harp (7710 Third Ave. between 77th and 78th streets) or Pour House of Bay Ridge (7901 Third Ave. at 79th Street) — both bars are throwing post-game parties with Halloween costume contests. They are so close that if you lose one contest, you can just walk a block and try your luck at the other. Both parties begin at 11 pm. By the way, if you haven’t picked your costume yet, might we suggest donning a leisure suit and going as your favorite nightlife columnist? Just an idea.
