Drivers whose commute includes the Belt Parkway might experience delays between Canarsie and Sheepshead Bay because of construction that began last week and will last until March, according to a traffic advisory from the Department of Transportation.
One of the parkway’s three lanes between Flatbush Avenue and Knapp Street may be closed in both directions on weekdays from 10 am to 2 pm and overnight, from 10 pm to 5 am. Two of the three lanes may be closed overnight in both directions from 1 am to 5 am.
The department said the closures allow the department to revamp bridges on the Belt Parkway, which is part of its plan to reconstruct or rebuild seven Belt Parkway bridges by 2017.
