In honor of what would have been the beloved composer’s and conductor’s, you can get your fill of Leonard Bernstein programming at Green-Wood Cemetery and the Brooklyn Lyceum this month.
A Celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s Birth, September 7 at 1 p.m. In honor of the 90th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth, Nina Bernstein, one of his daughters, will present “Leonard Bernstein, Reaching for the Note,” a movie of his life. A question and answer session will follow. This event is open to Green-Wood Historic Fund members only. It is free, but by reservation only. Performances of “West Side Story” and “On The Waterfront” at the Brooklyn Lyceum: “West Side Story,” September 6, 7 p.m., $5; “On The Waterfront,” September 7, 7 p.m., $5. Enjoy performances of these classic films, who scores were composed by Bernstein, as part of “Camp and Classic Films for 2008” on a 25-foot screen at the Brooklyn Lyceum, 227 Fourth Avenue.
