Berry bad
A burglar stole hundreds of dollars in booty from a North Fifth Street apartment on Feb. 4.
The thief broke into the unit, which is between Bedford Avenue and Berry Street, sometime after 7:30 am, when the 25-year-old tenant went out.
When he returned just two and a half hours later, he discovered that his HP laptop and a Fuji camera were gone.
Bar scare
A customer at a chichi North Fourth Street bar so frightened the bartender that she fled the establishment and called the cops from outside only to return minutes later to discover that both the creep and her purse were gone.
The frightened 30-year-old barmaid at the drinking establishment, between Bedford and Driggs avenues, was in the middle of her shift at 10:30 pm on Feb. 6 when a guy with a tear-drop tattoo over his left eye came in and asked for a wet napkin to clean a cut on his hand.
Unsatisfied, he began heading over to the other side of the bar, causing the bartender to run outside in fright and call 911.
Truck jacked
Thugs jacked a truck from a deliveryman while he was dropping off a package at a Meeker Avenue home on Feb. 7.
The 32-year-old had parked his truck between North Henry and Monitor streets when two guys approached, one of whom punched him on the left side of the face. Then they grabbed his $1,500 package scanner and the keys to his company truck and drove west toward McGuinness Avenue.
Cops later found the unoccupied vehicle near Bedford Avenue at the BQE.
Trunk ajar
A thief broke into the trunk of a car parked at Bedford Avenue at North Sixth Street and stole more than $2,500 worth of electronics.
The owner of the black 2008 Chrysler Town & Country had parked his car at 11 pm on Jan. 31. When he returned the next evening at 11:30 pm, the trunk was ajar and devoid of an IBM laptop, an iPod and a Canon camera.
Boutique strip
Fashion-savvy thieves stole $5,900 worth of Erica Wiener jewelry from a North Sixth Street clothing boutique on Feb. 8.
The 43-year-old owner of the boutique, at Bedford Avenue, closed the shop at 2 am. When the cleaning lady visited the shop at 9 am later that day, she noticed broken glass on the floor.
Shop lifted
Thieves targeted a design shop on North Sixth Street last week, making off with $1,600 worth of merchandise.
The 33-year-old owner of the shop, at Berry Street, locked up at 7 pm on Feb. 9. When he returned the next day at 5 am, the window was broken and his iMac was gone. The thieves also took two skateboards, worth a total of $500.
Worker hits boss
A construction worker attacked his supervisor using his fist, then a metal pipe, on Jan. 29.
The 29-year-old worker arrived at the construction site, on North 11th Street between Roebling Street and Driggs Avenue, at 7:40 am. This wasn’t on time enough for the boss, who reprimanded the tardy man and said he was going to call the head foreman.
As the supervisor walked away, the man suddenly turned violent, punching him in the back of the head, then picking up a nearby pipe and bashing him over the head with it. As the victim lay on the ground, the enraged employee yelled that he was going to come back and “shoot everybody.” He then fled down the street.
Seafood snatch
Cases of shrimp worth $1,000 were stolen from a Bayard Street warehouse on Jan. 24 by three thieves who were evidently preparing to host the world’s largest cocktail party.
Blond brawler
A 49-year-old exiting a cab early in the morning of Feb. 3 was attacked by a brawny, foul-mouthed bandit who took more than $400 from him and then punched him in the face.
The victim had exited the cab at the corner of Nassau Avenue and Diamond Street and was just settling up with the cabbie when the perp — a yellow-haired tough about 5-foot-10 and 230 pounds, according to cops — grabbed him and socked him in the face. The man dropped his wallet in the scuffle, and the thug opened it and removed $420 before punching him again.
