Because of a sudden illness, I was unable to attend a cousin’s daughter’s long−awaited wedding. And in last week’s column I spoke of the absurdity of the photographers taking over 1,500 photos, causing a 90−minute delay in the reception. This column is based on the hundreds of photos taken and by what my wife Sharon described of the reception.
The photos of the bride, groom, bridal party, parents, grandparents, family, guests, and the reception at Addison Par in Aberdeen, New Jersey were outstanding and the photos of the outdoor grounds, chapel, minister, view and the wedding ceremony itself were magnificent. But, as someone who has great difficulty walking, and after seeing the enormity of the grounds and the exquisite huge reception hall, I would have had heart palpitations just trying to get to and from the outdoor wedding to the buffet tables to the dinner table.
According to Sharon, royalty could not have had a more elegant wedding. Kim was always a beautiful girl and for this, the day of her days, she was a total stunner! The photos of the jovial groom Chris showed him looking as handsome as ever, although his pictures have never shown him looking happier. There were a lot of family at this wedding, and family and friends all rejoiced in the union, as depicted in four hundred smiling photos. Kim lived in Bensonhurst with her mother Reggie, a few blocks away from her grandparents, aunts and cousins. She went to PS 101 and Joseph Cavallaro Intermediate School 281.
Outside of the usual horrible Jerseyâ„Staten Island traffic coming and going, the trip was not too quick for guests coming back to Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island. So there was a lot of talk about how beautiful the wedding was and especially Kim, so I got a lot of feedback about the Wedding of the Year. Kim had moved Freehold, New Jersey with her mother years ago. Chris was living in Bay Ridge when they met. I have never heard of Addison Park, but from the photos taken I am sorry that I didn’t get to see this wedding in person. I missed seeing my granddaughter Alexa as a Junior Bridesmaid.
I missed seeing Kim turn into an absolutely gorgeous bride, although she had a lot to work with… stunning eyes, gorgeous face, and beautiful figure. I must know Chris about seven or eight years, always respectful and pleasant. It was a perfect match, they made a beautiful couple and I am sorry I didn’t see the nuptials, however the answer to the question “Was I sorry I missed the wedding of the year?” has to be YES and No. Yes because of all the reasons already explained and No because of my inability to walk and stand. So although I chided the photographers for their overabundance of photos, where thanks to the modern technology of digital cameras, it costs absolutely nothing compared to the old time photographers using film. I was there in spirit and there was absolutely nothing I missed thanks to the 1524 photos…except the food! Congrats o the Happy Couple… Auguri per centi anni, from your Sicilian cousins.
