Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go takes a walk on the wild side in August.
Three puppet pigs entertain in Teatro Sea’s bilingual performance of “The Three Little Pigs/Los Tres Cerditos” on August 1, “Build a Brooklyn Bug” from recycled materials August 19; and meet a variety of live animals from the museum — including friendly snakes — at On-The-Go outreach events throughout the month.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at CityParks Kids Brower Park Summer Performance Series: Teatro Sea’s “The Three Little Pigs/Los Tres Cerditos,” August 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brower Park, between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues: Teatro Sea puts a unique spin on “The Three Little Pigs/Los Tres Cerditos” in this bilingual performance, including a vegetarian Big Bad Wolf. Meet live animals at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum station. Part of the CityParks Kids summer series. All ages.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Gerritsen Beach Family Fun Day, August 3 from 12-5 p.m. at Seba Avenue Park, 95 Seba Avenue near Gerritsen Avenue: Brooklyn Children’s Museum joins Gerritsen Beach Cares for a day of free family fun. Compete in wacky games, sample local treats, and take in a vintage car show. All ages.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at CityParks Kids Brower Park Summer Performance Series: All-Ages Vaudeville Show, August 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brower Park, between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues: Don’t miss the final free performance in Brower Park, featuring the wacky antics of The Jeskes, Clowns Extraordinaire. Hands-on activities at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum table are sure to keep that smile on your face. Part of the CityParks Kids summer series. All ages.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at the Hancock Street Block Party, August 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Hancock Street between Marcy and Nostrand avenues: On-The-Go joins the Hancock Block Association in celebrating the final days of summer. This street fair will include great eats, raffle prizes, face painting, and games for adults and children. On-The-Go will bring creative crafts for kids to make and live animals from the museum. All ages.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Brooklyn Bridge Park: Build a Brooklyn Bug, August 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at 1 Main Street near Water Street: Buzzing pest or flying friend — how do you see insects? Hear a story about insects around the world and find out why little bugs can be a big deal. Create your own insects using recycled tree branches, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes. A live animal from the museum will also visit — she thinks insects are delicious. Ages five and younger.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Greenpoint Summerstarz: Make it a Movie Night, August 20 from 6-9 p.m. on the lawn of McCarren Park, Lorimer Street near Nassau Avenue: On-The-Go will lead “Kids’ Hour” at Summerstarz’ family movie night in McCarren Park. Touch a live reptile and make a hands-on craft as the sun sets into the summer night. All ages.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Avenue at St. Mark’s Avenue, is temporarily closed while the final stages of the building’s expansion are being completed. Museum programming continues with “On-The-Go” events held for children and families at local libraries, schools and neighboring cultural institutions.
