Xavier HS student Raymond Brown of Bay Ridge has successfully completed the Norwich University Drill Camp, NUDC, held this past June at the nation’s first military college in Northfield, Vt.

Drill Camp is designed for high school students interested in advancing their individual and team skills in military drill and ceremony, while further developing their physical and mental strength and moral character.

NUDC is especially designed for those who currently participate in Junior ROTC, Civil Air Patrol, Sea Cadets, Young Marines, Scout Troops or other youth drill and/or color guard organizations.

Participants are trained under the guidance of Norwich University’s Regimental Drill Team in Exhibition, Regulation, Sword, Guidon, Color Guard and other forms of Drill and Ceremony.

Each participant leaves NUDC with a better understanding and appreciation of drill history, teaching techniques and leadership skills. NUDC includes physical fitness training, classroom instruction, rappelling, climbing wall, obstacle course, a drill efficiency test and drill competition to gauge what the participants have learned.

To qualify all applicants must hold a minimum of 2.5 GPA in school and submit letters of recommendation.
