Firefighters scrambled to Brighton 3rd Street after a heavy fire ripped through a two-story home near Brighton Beach Avenue. Witnesses said that firefighters fought back heavy flames and smoke throughout the night on January 27 as the vacant wood framed house was turned into so much kindling. FDNY officials said that no injuries were reported. It was unclear what caused the blaze as this paper went to press.
