Blessing of the beasts

Blessed be the beasts.

The sprinkling of holy water was accompanied by a resistant strain of meows, yelps and chirps as local pet owners toted their lovable critters to St. Saviour’s Church for the annual animal blessing.

The howling rites, conducted by Reverend Daniel Murphy at the house of worship, 611 8th Avenue, honored St. Frances of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
