Borough Hall bathed in purple

For the first time ever, the façade of Brooklyn Borough Hall will be illuminated purple — the signature color of the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter — from October 24-26, as part of the annual “Week to Remember.”

Week to Remember is dedicated to raising awareness and to help us remember all those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. It consists of a series of events and activities organized by the chapter, culminating October 26 at the 20th Annual Memory Walk — a two mile walk through scenic Riverside Park, where thousands of New Yorkers from every borough will pound the pavement to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

This year’s Memory Walk is expected to raise $1.25 million to help the chapter offer care, support and education for the 250,000 New Yorkers with Alzheimer’s disease living in the five boroughs, from every race, gender and culture. Dollars raised also go toward advancing research into better treatments and a possible cure.
