A man killed himself by jumping in front of an R train at 77th Street on July 11, snarling service in Bay Ridge last Monday morning.

The man leapt in front of a Manhattan-bound train pulling into the station just before 10 am, fire department officials said.

Police attempted to interview the train’s motorman on the platform, but he ran into the tunnel, and law enforcers caught up with the him after a brief foot pursuit, officials said.

They took the transit worker into custody, but did not arrest him, police said. He tested negative for drugs and alcohol, officials said.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority suspended service between 95th and 36th streets for two hours while investigating the suicide, and trains resumed just after noon.
