A group of breast cancer survivors were among the runway stars at a fashion show last week.

Doctors, nurses, and former patients strutted their stuff on Nov. 13 at the Pink Runway Fashion Show inside the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg. The gala was a charity event for Maimonides Medical Center’s Breast Cancer Center. Suiting up in designer duds was a thrill for the survivors who participated, according to a hospital honcho.

“Some of these patients battled cancer against all odds and had chemotherapy and mastectomies,” said Charusheela Andaz, associate director of breast surgery at Maimonides. “It was so heartwarming to see them enjoying themselves outside of the hospital and breast center.”

The women modeled clothes and accessories made by local companies including Catbird, Amacord, and In God We Trust.

Organizers would not say how much money the event netted.
