The Brooklyn Bar Association (BBA) held its Annual Dinner at the El Caribe in Mill Basin earlier this month, bringing together the borough’s top lawyers and judges to recognize the accomplishments of Kings County’s legal eagles.
Awards were given to outstanding individuals in the legal field, including the President’s Award to Jeh C. Johnson, Esq., of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and former Secretary of Homeland Security; the Distinguished Judicial Service Award to Hon. Keshia Espinal, Supervising Judge of the Kings County Criminal Court; and the Vivian H. Agress Trailblazer Award to Aimee L. Richter, Esq., of Lee Anav Chung White Kim Ruger & Richter LLP.

The BBA also honored judges retiring this year, including Judge Del Guidice, Judge Debra Silber, and Judge Larry D. Martin, and paid tribute to the late Judge Martin Schneier, who passed away earlier this year.
“The Brooklyn Bar Association recognized these trailblazers for their tireless commitment to raise the bar of our profession,” BBA President Anthony Vaughn Jr. said of this year’s slate of honorees.
“While each of them may have taken vastly different paths, each of our award recipients have established a reputation for excellence,” he added. “One administers justice as a public servant, while another is a zealous advocate in the private sector and the third has aided in the creation of policy in the highest levels of government as well as in a multi-national law firm.”
The Annual Dinner also served as an opportunity for BBA members to connect and celebrate the start of the holiday season.
