It was a big, blue day in Brooklyn on on Sunday as Smurfette, Papa Smurf and the mischievous No Name brought their signature splash of color — and a $10,000 gift — to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

The July 13 celebration, dubbed SMURFS Summer, was hosted in collaboration with Paramount Pictures and helped mark the institution’s hallmark 125th year. The event came ahead of the July 18 release of “Smurfs,” starring Rihanna.

“SMURFS Summer was a big blue hit! Everyone loved spending some time with their favorite characters,” said Brooklyn Children’s Museum President & CEO Atiba T. Edwards. “We’re grateful for Paramount Pictures’ generous support. Play is how children learn best, and partnerships like this help us spark their curiosity and development.”

The Smurfs seemed right at home at the museum, the “perfect place to explore fun.”

“Eternally young, the Smurfs continue to embark on new adventures and had a great time at Brooklyn Children’s Museum, the perfect place to explore fun, educational exhibits that teach us about world cultures, history, science, and nature,” said Jennifer Lynch, senior vice president of global corporate social responsibility for Paramount Pictures. “The Smurf spirit of constant creativity, tolerance, faith in the future, and respect for others can be found throughout BCM. We were proud to bring SMURFS Summer to this Crown Heights institution and to support its continued good work with this funding award.”
