Brandan Kawal may be from California, but the version of the Dodgers that he loves is from Brooklyn.
That’s why whenever Kawal is off the field, you’ll find him sporting a familiar blue-and-white baseball cap — but his has a “B” on it instead of an interlocked “L” and “A.”
“I’ve always been fascinated by the Dodgers,” said Kawal, who saw little action early in the year, but is now batting .379 in 12 games. “I love the history, like the Jackie Robinson story. Just being in Brooklyn is like being part of that history for me.”
Kawal’s omnipresent Dodger cap didn’t hurt when the 22-year-old was trying to catch on with a pro organization.
“A Met scout saw me wearing the cap and told me to keep it,” said Kawal (pronounced KAY-wahl).
