Sole-ful crime
One lady attacked several members of another gang with her shoe after a verbal dispute got even uglier on Carlton Avenue on Aug. 10.
The three victims, who reported getting cuts and bruises from the assaulter, said the argument began at the corner of Waverly Avenue and Fulton Street at 3:55 am.
The victims, aged 34–43, departed, but were followed by the other gals to Carlton Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue. There, the suddenly unshod woman battered the trio with a high-heel — or perhaps a pump — before fleeing with her companions.
Back up
Thieves and pranksters stole a man’s bicycle from his Gates Avenue apartment and, worse, clogged up his toilet overnight on Aug. 6.
The victim told police that someone took his bicycle, which was missing its back wheel, from the building, between Washington and Waverly avenues, between 10 pm on Aug. 6 and 8 am the next day. Then, to make matters worse, stuffed a wad of toiled paper in the communal john.
Fruity
Two men attacked and robbed a DeKalb Avenue fresh fruit vendor on Aug. 8.
The produce peddler told police that the two thugs approached him at 2:20 pm and yelled, “Give me some fruit.”
But actually, they wanted his cheddar.
In a struggle at the corner of Ashland Place, the duo punched and kicked the merchant, then stole $800 from his pocket.
Re-burg
An Atlantic Avenue nightclub was burglarized for the fourth time in recent months.
Thieves apparently entered the unlucky lounge, which is between Waverly and Washington avenues, sometime after 3:30 pm on Aug. 2 and before 10:30 pm on Aug. 4 without using force.
The videotaped suspects reportedly took four televisions, two dozen bottles of top shelf liquor and champagne, and the cash register.
The bar’s owner told police that it was certainly not the first time the joint has been jumped.
Beat down
Two men inexplicably attacked another man on North Elliot Place on Aug. 3.
The 50-year-old victim told police that two strangers, one wearing brass knuckles, punched him in the head and then kicked him in the mouth on the block between Flushing and Park avenues at 3 pm.
The wounded man took himself to the hospital where his injuries were stitched up.
Thai that binds
Thieves broke into a Myrtle Avenue restaurant on the night overnight on Aug. 6.
An employee noticed that the back door of the Thai restaurant, which is between Adelphi Street and Clermont Avenue, was open when he arrived for work at 10:30 am on Aug. 7.
Closer inspection revealed that the door had been pried open and $200 was missing from the cash register.
Got him!
A wily mugger almost escaped from police after robbing a man at gunpoint on the corner of Carlton and Myrtle avenues on Aug. 10.
Police apprehended a 19-year-old hooligan, who had taken an undisclosed amount of money from a 27-year-old man’s pockets at 2 am — but he slipped away while officers tried to handcuff him.
However, they soon overtook him for good and this time, the silver bracelets made it into a locked position.
