Community Board 14 delivered a tall salute to Brooklyn’s grassroots gladiators during a civic meeting at the district office, 810 East 16th Street, heralding their “exemplary service” to the Flatbush-Midwood communities.
The awardees were: Helen Klein, reporter, Courier-Life Publications; bloggers Christopher Kreussling, Flatbush Gardener, and Liena Zagare and Ben Smith, Ditmas Park; Barry Smith, Flatbush Food Co-op; Brooklyn College employees Bonnie Impagliazzo, director of Government and External Affairs, and Nicole Hosten, director of College and Community Relations; Winston von Engel, deputy director, Brooklyn Office of the New York City Department of City Planning; David Parish, city planner; Philippe Pereira, manager of operations at Prospect Park; New York City Department of Sanitation Supervisors Kevin Tock, John Vlacich and Anthony Stabile, and Superintendent Daniel Stine; New York Police Department 70th Precinct law enforcers Officers Shawn Lipstein and Brian Lang, Sgt. Brian Lane, Lt. Jacqueline Bourne and Deputy Inspector Ralph Monteforte; and new board members Jonathan Sherman and Delsie Lawson.
