For glimpses of the private and public
lives of New York City celebrities, "Celebrity Moments:
The Work of Daily News Photographer Richard Corkery," promises
a gallery full of 30 atypical color and black-and-white portraits.
Curated by the Daily News’ Thomas Monaster, the exhibition –
on display at the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University beginning
Thursday – features shots that Corkery has snapped for the tabloid
over the last 25 years.
Among the boldface names that the Bronx native will display are
those of presidents (Ronald Reagan, backstage at the "Will
Rogers Follies"), musicians (Madonna, at left), actors (Johnny
Depp, sharing a cocktail with Kate Moss) and many more.
"Celebrity Moments" is on display from Jan. 4-27 at
the Humanities Building Gallery in Long Island University, at
the junction of Flatbush Avenue Extension and DeKalb Avenue in
Downtown Brooklyn. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from
9 am to 6 pm and weekends from 11 am to 5 pm. For information,
call (718) 488-1198.
