Clones cruise over Renegades

Cyclones 5

Hudson Valley 1

June 17 at MCU Park

Northpaw Corey Oswalt gave up just three hits and struck out eight in six innings of work and the Cyclones cruised to victory against the first-place Renegades.

Three runs in the first were all the Cyclones would need for the win. Tucker Tharp reached on an error before the highly touted shortstop Amed Rosario singled. After a strikeout, Michael Katz tripled to right, scoring two. Katz later came home on a ground out by Tomas Nido.

The Clones tacked on a run in the fourth on the team’s first homer of the season, a blast to right field by Joe Tuschak. The Brooks got some insurance in the eighth with the team’s second “sacrifice double play” of the season, which we wouldn’t mention if it wasn’t so weird.

Dominican Scarlyn Jose Reyes (yes, that’s his name. We’re looking into it) threw three innings for the save, giving up one unearned run in the ninth.

The Cyclones travel to Hudson Valley today to face the Renegades in the team’s first real road trip, because Staten Island doesn’t count.
