Tigers 9
Cyclones 6
July 27 at MCU Park
Here’s the problem with this game — Cyclone pitching.
The bats kept trying to get the Clones back into the game, but the hurlers wouldn’t cooperate. Here’s what happened:
After falling behind 1–0, the Clones regained the lead in the second on Xorge Carrillo’s two-run dinger.
But then the Tigers put up seven unanswered runs to take an 8-2 lead before the Cyclones started clawing back.
The Clones cut the lead to 8–6 by putting up four in an epic seventh inning.
Daniel Muno hit a solo shot before Cole Frenzel singled and was knocked in on Richard Lucas’s 12th double. Charles Thurber then doubled home two more to end the scoring.
Down 9-6, the Clones rallied in the ninth, putting runners on second and third with no outs, but the bats disappeared.
The Tigers had 14 hits on the night; the Clones struck out nine times.
The Cyclones are home vs. Connecticut Tigers at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on July 28 at 7 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
