The Friends of Historic New Utrecht invites you to Liberty Weekend 2008, May 31-June 1 at The New Utrecht Reformed Church, 84th Street and 18th Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Attendees of the May 31 event can enjoy a Civil War Encampment-14th Brooklyn Regiment, Winslow Battery ‘D’ (with Civil War-era Cannon); Revolutionary War historians; historical displays in the Parish House; children’s activity; and a tour of the Old New Utrecht Cemetery, 85th Street, at 11:30 a.m.
There will also be a concert by the ISO Symphonic Band conducted by Brian Worsdale, at 7:30 p.m. Bring your own blanket and chair.
The next day, honor American’s veterans and troops, past and present, during a special service, June 1 at 11 a.m. At 1 p.m., there will be a parade to the New Utrecht Cemetery to salute war veterans at General Woodhull’s Memorial.
At 1:45 p.m., the ceremony will conclude at the New Utrecht Liberty Pole. All celebrations will take place rain or shine.
