Community Board 10 lauds BRAVO ambulance

BRAVO ambulance was in the spotlight at the October meeting of Community Board 10, as the volunteers that have kept the group running were lauded for their efforts on behalf of a late board member.

Joe Sokoloski, the son of former CB 10 member Helen Sokoloski, who died in September, presented Dwight Lankford, the chairperson of BRAVO’s board, with a check, in gratitude for the ambulance team’s support for his mother in her time of need.

The check, he stressed, was to mark “the kindness BRAVO personnel showed, and for their speed and gentle care of her.

“They couldn’t have taken care of their own mother better,” Sokoloski told board members gathered in the Knights of Columbus hall, 13th Avenue and 86th Street.

In addition, Sokoloski presented a check to the Commodore Barry Club, which was accepted by longtime member Mary Nolan, who is also a CB 10 member.

“What a pleasure it is,” said Nolan, “to be with BRAVO at the best community board in the city to accept a check from Joe Sokoloski.”
