A new adventure has arrived in southern Brooklyn. Coney Escape Room, the borough’s first escape room experience, opened March 21 with a lively grand opening celebration.

The family-owned business marks the first escape room in the area, offering groups of two to eight players the chance to solve puzzles and uncover clues within a 60-minute time limit in order to “escape” immersive, themed environments.

One scenario places players inside a haunted funeral parlor filled with unsettling clues and supernatural secrets. Another storyline begins with a startling discovery on the boardwalk that leads to an international conspiracy and a high-stakes interrogation room. A third adventure draws on pirate legends connected to New York’s coastline, inviting players to follow a trail of clues in search of long-lost treasure.

Randy Peers, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, told Brooklyn Paper that his organization was “proud to support” the new business.

“This family-owned and operated attraction will provide a year-round reason to visit Coney Island, and help to continue to shape the amusement district as a world class destination for one and all,” Peers said.

Owner Anna Geller described the grand opening as “nothing short of spectacular,” highlighting strong turnout from residents, community groups, public officials and supporters.

“The event was a vibrant celebration of connection, excitement and new beginnings.  From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere was electric,” she said. “As both locals and tourists discover this new addition to Coney Island, the team behind Coney Escape Room looks forward to becoming a lasting part of the community’s story — creating memories that will be talked about for years to come. We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and the reservations that are coming in.”

Coney Escape Room is open daily from 12-9 p.m. at 1205 Surf Ave. in Coney Island.
